Sara Jean Abbott, affectionally known as Memaw, age 83, of Montezuma, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Still Water Chapel in Ideal, Georgia. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Roy Peterson will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Jean was born on April 1, 1941 to the late James Wilbur Chambley and Sara Jeanette Barwick Chambley. She was well known in the community as a former daycare owner. She was also known for her western attire. Jean was a devoted Christian and a member of Still Water Chapel. She loved her family dearly, especially being with her grandbabies. The family would like to give a special thank you to her close friends, Debbie Smith, Deborah Raburn, and Johnny for always being there for her when she needed it.
Survivors include her son, Clint Abbott (Janet); brother, Jr. Chambley; sister-in-law, Gladys Kicklighter; three grandchildren, Justin Abbott (Kerissa), Dillion Abbott (Tori), and Christopher Abbott (Nicole); two great-grandchildren, Kinsley Abbott, and Stormy Abbott; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gerald Abbott; son, Thomas Christopher Abbott Sr.; brother, Billy Chambley; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Chambley.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia.
