Wiley Frederick Nelson

April 13, 1940 — March 4, 2009

Wiley Frederick "Freddy" Nelson, Jr., age 68, formerly of Montezuma, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.

A memorial service was held at 10 A.M. on Friday, March 20, 2009 in the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma with Dr. Randy Gregg officiating.

His high school graduating class of 1958 served as honorary pallbearers.

Interment of his ashes followed in the Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma.

Mr. Nelson was born on April 13, 1940 in Montezuma, GA to the late Wiley Frederick "Fred" Nelson, Sr. and the late Jane Welch Nelson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is also preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Tyler Frederick Nelson and Helen Bowling Nelson, maternal grandparents, Henry Grady Welch and Annie Smith Welch and one brother, Steve Nelson.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Mitch Burke of Port Saint Joe, FL; one son, Wiley F. Nelson III of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren, Coy Burke and Emma Grace Burke of Port Saint Joe, FL; one sister, Angela J. Nelson of Atlanta, GA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Sara Nelson of Montezuma, GA and Wayne and Carol Nelson of Montezuma, GA.
