Wiley Eugene Jones

June 27, 1931 — October 17, 2008

Mr. Wiley Eugene Jones, age 77, of Oglethorpe, GA passed away Friday morning, October 17, 2008 at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18 from 6 to 8 PM at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, Oct. 19 in the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Kirksey, Rev. Ralph Price and Rev. Tim Ferguson officiating.

Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

He was born June 27, 1931 to the late Elijah Heinz Jones and Ida Cora Dunmon. He was a retired ferry operator with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a member of Bakersfield Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Belle Jones.

Survivors include his companion, Sybil Barnes of Oglethorpe, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Adrienne Ann and Johnny Peaster of Ellijay, GA; four sons, Robert Edwin Jones of Hiram, GA, David Eugene Jones of Marshallville, GA, James Thomas Jones of Reynolds, GA and Daniel Wayne Jones of Garden Valley, GA; one sister, Louise Brent of Beaufort, SC; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
