MARSHALLVILLE, GA - Wautile Purvis Stripling, 96, of Marshallville, Ga passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 noon, Friday, April 5, 2013 at Andersonville National Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, April 5th at 10:30 a.m. at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home and will leave the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. in procession to the cemetery.
Mrs. Stripling was born March 29, 1917 to the late Charles Purvis and Wootie Clyde Sutton in Ocilla, Ga. She loved gardening, arts and crafts, sewing, and traveling with her husband on many Army assignments. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tony Lee Stripling; her sister, Agnes Purvis Skinner; and five brothers, Charles Purvis, Rudolph Purvis, Clarence Purvis, John Purvis, and O.L. Purvis.
Mrs. Stripling's survivors include her husband, Army Master Sgt. Hugh Dorsey Stripling of Marshallville, GA; two daughters, Marla Stripling of Marshallville, GA and Karen Stripling Geter of Louisville, KY; a nephew, J.R. Skinner of Ashburn, GA; a niece, Diane Purvis of Tifton, GA; two grandchildren, Christopher Geter of Louisville, KY and Shannon Self of Tynsboro, MA; and three great-grandchildren, Anita Geter, Timbrel Geter, and Mariha Geter, all of Louisville, KY. She also leaves behind a host of other nephews, nieces, and other family members.
