ANDERSONVILLE, GA - Mr. Walter Lawrence "Catfish" Whittington, 84 of Andersonville, Georgia passed away Tuesday,September 03, 2019 at Macon Medical Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Still Water Chapel with Rev. Roy Peterson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia with military honors.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, September 4th at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Whittington was born May 27, 1935 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late William Clarence Whittington and Louvenia Arrowsmith Whittington. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army. Later, he worked as a school bus driver for Sumter County School System from which he retired. He also co-owned and operated W & W Upholstery in Americus, Georgia. He was an avid fisherman and loved riding his motorcycle and Volkswagen around the countryside.

Survivors include his loving companion of 30 years, Ms. Roselyn Starling of Andersonville, Georgia; three daughters: Michelle Buchanan (Don) of Andersonville, Georgia, Tanya McDonald (Tim) of Americus, Georgia, Randi Duncan of Americus, Georgia; one step-daughter, Jessica Hines (Jimmy) of Ellaville, Georgia; one brother, Lavar Whittington (Judy) of Americus, Georgia, three sisters: Onita Page of Warner Robins, Georgia, Clarette Denny of Americus, Georgia, Lavoye Morgan (Ken) of Oklahoma.Also surviving are three grandchildren: Cortni Vogel, Brantley Duncan and Rowdy Hines, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three siblings: William Clarence"Whitt" Whittington, Tom George Whittington and Linda Louise Whittington.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
