(Sgt.) Wallace "Sonny" Britt Jr.

LAKE CITY, FLORIDA – (Sgt.) Wallace “Sonny” Britt, Jr., age 59, of Lake City, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 surrounded with the love of family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 5-7pm at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 5th, 2024 at 2pm at Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Born on August 13, 1964 in Montezuma, Georgia, Mr. Britt was known by most as “Sonny.” He was the son of Wallace and Edna Britt. Sonny served our country as a fuel specialist in the US Air Force. He was a devoted loving husband, father, son, and friend. Sonny had a passion for living life (all nine of them). Family and friends could always trust him to stand firm in his beliefs, lend a helping hand, and be generous to those around him.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 26 years, Leola Britt, mother, Edna Britt of Montezuma, Georgia, sister Cynthia Shremshock of Reynolds, Georgia, sister-in-law Debbie Britt of Evans, Georgia, son Bryson (Britney) Britt of Lake City, Florida, daughters Brandy (Adam) Shutters of Ellaville, Georgia and Elise Britt of Lake City, Florida, his fictive sons Cody (Morgan) Albertson of Live Oak, Florida and Adam (Amanda) Handshoe of O’Brien, Florida, and many beloved nieces, nephews, family, chosen family and friends.

Sonny is also survived by what he found to be life’s greatest adventure and mark of success,those that call him PawPaw; Bren, Bash, Bella, Finley, Isaiah, Emorey, Wade, and Jordan.

Sonny was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Britt, Sr., and brother, Kenneth Britt.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia was entrusted with arrangements.
