Virginia Peaster, age 74, of Montezuma, GA passed away Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008 at the Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma. Funeral services were held at 11 AM Friday, June 13, 2008, at Cedar Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Truitt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was born on September 11, 1933 in Macon County to the late Grady Satterfield and Dulcie Patterson Satterfield. Virginia, known affectionately as Nanny, was a retired civil engineer from Robins Air Force Base. She previously worked in the selective service office in Oglethorpe, GA and also served as clerk of the Macon County Board of Commissioners. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and enjoyed her hobbies of making Christmas ornaments, and painting ceramics. She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family and loved ones.
Survivors include her son Carl Savage "Buddy" Peaster, Jr. of Murfreesboro, TN; her daughter: Virginia "Ginger" Peaster Averill of Cordele, GA; two grandchildren: John Montague "John John" Averill, III and Jared Mitchell Averill.
