Vernon Davis

Vernon Davis, 87, of Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away peacefully at his residence on July 25, 2022. He was born July 29, 1934, to the late Ozzie Davis and Gladys Key Davis. He retired from Mulcoa with twenty-five years of service as a heavy equipment operator. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens. Pastor Lance Bernard, of Whitewater Baptist Church officiated the service. Mr. Vernon will lie in state at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy Jones Davis of Oglethorpe, Georgia, and seven children: Wanda McGee and husband, Arthur of Cordele, Georgia, Barbara Price of Warner Robins, Georgia, Eugene Davis and wife, Pam of Ideal, Georgia, Judy Aultman of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Johnny Davis and wife, Lynn of Ideal, Georgia, Amanda Haworth and husband, Brad of Perry, Georgia, and Phillip Davis, and wife, Logan of Ideal, Georgia. He also leaves behind twenty grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two-year-old great-grandson, Nathan.
