MARSHALLVILLE, GA - A memorial service for Tony Lee Stripling, age 55, of Marshallville, GA will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Stripling was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during Vietnam. He was also a member of the American Farrier Association, a welder, certified in heating and air conditioning, and an SAE mechanic. Mr. Stripling was the son of Hugh and Wautile Stripling, both of whom he preceded in death.
Mr. Stripling was a lifetime resident of the Fort Valley, GA and Marshallville, GA areas. He was an employee of Blue Bird for a long time and worked for various companies in the area. He also served several years as a policeman. His knowledge in mechanical systems was extraordinary as he was consulted on numerous occasions for his expertise. He loved music, motorcycles, and was a collector of tool antiques and Indian memorabilia.
Mr. Stripling's survivors include his wife, Gina Stripling of Dillsboro, NC; his son, Shannon (Tina) Self of Tyngsboro, MA; and two granddaughters, Madeline Self and Mia Self. He is also survived by two sisters, Marla Stripling of Marshallville, GA and Karran Stripling Geter of Louisville, KY; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
