Steven Leonard Simpson, age 43, of Austin, Texas passed away suddenly onMonday, February 8, 2010 at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 26, 2010 in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial followed in Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors.

The book of life for Steven Simpson was opened on July 18, 1966 in Orlando, FL. He was born into the family of Jesse Simpson and Doris River Simpson. On February 8, 2010, God embraced Steven in His Arms and enfolded him in His Love. He quietly departed this life at his home in Austin, Texas.

He accepted Christ at a young age. His father later relocated his family to Rochester, New York where he attended and graduated as Valedictorian from Jefferson High School in 1984. Shortly after high school, Steven joined the United States Air Force and served his military career at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas. He worked as an Accountant with several companies throughout Austin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris and a sister, Shalonda Simpson.

Steven is survived by his father, Jesse (Mary) Simpson of Montezuma, GA; step-mother, Valerie Simpson of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Angela Gilbert and Shawonda Simpson both of Rochester, NY; two brothers, Tony Simpson of Perry, GA and Alvin Simpson of Rochester, NY; three nieces, Teresa Eddy, Brittany Simpson, Nekisha Matthews all of Rochester, NY; a great niece, Kiara Eddy; step-sisters and brothers, Anthony Stickland, Henery Sanica, Jowanna Leggette of Rochester, NY; Malinda Leggette of Perry, GA; aunts and uncles, Elizabeth "Bitt" Simpson, Idell (Curtis) Haugabook of Montezuma, GA, Lynn Simpson of Rochester, NY, Willie Edward Simpson of Newark, NJ and Simon (Dorothy) Rivers; great aunts and uncle, Rosetta Kendrick of Montezuma, GA, Martha Campbell and Will (Christine) Simpson both of Atlanta, GA; a host of relatives, friends and his beloved dog, "Roxie" also survive.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of funeral arrangements.
