MONTEZUMA, GA - Stanford "Steve" Orion Stephens, Jr., passed away Sunday evening, September 25, 2011, at his residence in Montezuma, Georgia.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, September 29, at the Watson-Mathews Funeral Home, 322 N. Dooly Street, Montezuma, GA 31063.At other times, the family may be contacted at the residence.
A memorial service will be held at 4 PM, Friday, September 30, in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Troy Fripp officiating.
Steve was born on April 21, 1959, in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, to the late Stanford "Stan" O. Stephens, Sr., and the late Sammie Dickerson Stephens.He was raised in Cordele, Georgia, and attended Crisp County High School.He graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University in Atlanta.He owned and operated Triple S Pleating and other businesses in Montezuma and Cordele.Steve was also a pipe fitter working shutdowns throughout the southeast, working most recently with Frucon in Oglethorpe, GA.He was a faithful member of DeSoto Baptist Church.He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.Steve will be missed by all who knew him.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Loren Allen Stephens, of Montezuma; his son, Stanford "Tripp" O. Stephens III, of St. Simons Island, GA; two daughters, Taylor Deane Stephens (Mitchell Spradley) of Montezuma, and Jessica Fox Stephens (Michael Pearce) of Byron, GA; his granddaughter, Claudia Loraine Spradley of Montezuma; one sister, Sammie "Tammie" Stephens Roberts of Dawson, GA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
