MONTEZUMA, GA - Mr. Simon Melvin Yoder, 81, of Montezuma, GA passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 13th from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at the Word of Life Church in Montezuma, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, December 14th at the Word of Life Church, 902 Greenwood Drive, Montezuma, GA 31063.
Burial will follow in the Word of life Church Cemetery, 759 Shiloh Church Road, Montezuma, GA 31063.
He will be best remembered for his passion for his family and music. A gifted guitarist and violinist, he wrote many lyrics that spoke his life story, which his family will treasure forever.He had a genuine love for people, loved serving the public, and always had a smile and a story to tell everyone. He was notorious for having an affectionate pet name for all his children. (Stu ball), (Valley), (Applesauce), (Gramps), (Wooly Bully), (Mateo), (Syllable), & (Pudding Head) to name a few.
Early on in life, he gave his heart to Jesus and served God faithfully until the time of his passing. He leaves a golden legacy of choosing God over convenience and a lifetime of good deeds and valuable teaching that his family will treasure forever.He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Kauffman Yoder of Montezuma, GA; four daughters, Cathy (Jim) Bornschlegal of Mitchell, NE, Ramona (Marcus) Overholt of Montezuma, GA, Drusilla (Titus) Troyer of Houston, TX and Nicole (Nick) Teal of Marshallville, GA, five sons, Stuart Yoder of Woodlawn, VA, Wade Yoder of Fort Valley, GA, Richard Yoder Montezuma, GA, Ronald Yoder of Perry, GA and Matthew (Michele)of Orlando, FL; a brother, Robert Paul (Amanda) Yoder of Montezuma, GA.
Mr. Yoder is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Malinda Yoder; one sister, Laura Yoder, and two brothers, Henry Yoder and Alva Yoder.
