Shirley Ann Thornton

Visitation was from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 5, 2012 in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Gary O'Neal officiating the services. Burial immediately followed in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park in Montezuma.
Mrs. Thornton was born on July 15, 1942 in Montezuma, GA to the late Ralph Cromer and Gladys Harris Cromer. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by all her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin "Buddy" Thornton.
She is survived by her two children, Barbara Church and her husband Oscar of Blufton, SC, Bobby Thompson and his wife Cathy of Blufton, SC; three sisters, Peggy Smith of Oglethorpe, GA, Melba Tramel of Butler, GA and Lavelia Wiggins of Oglethorpe, GA; four grandchildren, Teresa Posey, Brittany Thompson, Derek Church and Leigh Hudson; eight great grandchildren, Ryan Granger, Dawsyn Posey, Tori Church, Keaton Church, Kamryn Church, Kinsley Church, Jeremy Hudson and Michal Hudson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
At the request of the family, flowers will be accepted.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma was in charge of funeral arrangements.
