Sarah Youngblood Woodruff, age 77, of Byromville, GA passed away, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Lillian G. Carter Nursing Center in Plains, GA. She was born on February 24, 1933 in Byromville, GA. Mrs. Woodruff was retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base. She was the first female mayor of Byromville. Mrs. Woodruff was a member of Byromville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Woodruff; son Bob Woodruff; brother Joseph Youngblood; sister Peggy Massey.She is survived by grandchildren: Chip Woodruff (Leigha Frady) of Athens; Amanda Woodruff of Americus; nieces: Paula Massey (Mark)Smith of Byromville and Pam Massey (Keith) Evans of Byromville; and other nieces and nephews; brother-in-law: George Massey of Byromville; sister-in-law: Era Mae Youngblood of Byromville; grand nephews and nieces: Quint Smith; Massey Evans; Mandy Smith; and other grand nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 10 at the Byromville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Overton and Rev. Andy Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at the Swearingen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m.
