MONTEZUMA, GA - Sarah Jeanette Chambley, age 88 of Montezuma, GA passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at her residence.

Visitation will be from 7 - 9 PM, Wednesday, May 4 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, May 5 at Stillwater Chapel in Ideal with Reverends Roy and Jennie Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Chambley was born on August 1, 1922 in Schley County, GA, the daughter of the late Bessie Kate Rigsby Barwick and Benjamin Franklin Barwick. She was better known as Maw-Maw to children and parents as well. She worked for many years at Jean Abbotts Nursery holding, rocking and loving many young ones from miles around. She will be remembered for her love of life, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.W. Chambley; a son, Billy James Chambley; and son-in-law, Gerald Abbott and beloved friend Allen "Gube" Payne. She was the last of nine children; sisters, Mozelle Cooper, Mayetta Ivey, Mary Saunders; brothers, Turner Barwick, Buster Barwick, Dorsey Barwick, Hugh Dorsey Barwick and Jack Barwick.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Abbott of Montezuma, GA; son and daughter-in-law, James Chambley Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Vero Beach, FL; and another daughter-in-law, Gladys Kicklighter; six grandchildren, Chris Abbott, Clint and Janet Abbott of High Falls, GA, Cindy and Dwane Hamilton of Fort Pierce, FL,Kim and Glenn Rustay of Vero Beach, FL, Denise Chambley of Raleigh, NC, Mike and Shannon Chambley of Orlando, FL; nine great grandchildren, Christopher Abbott of Montezuma, GA, Justin Abbott of Athens, GA, Dillion Abbott of High Falls, GA, Natalie Dupuis of Fort Pierce, FL, Danielle Rustay of Vero Beach, FL, Sean Rustay of Vero Beach, FL, Sarah Chambley of Orlando, FL, Will Chambley of Orlando, FL, Kensey Chambley of Orlando, FL.
