Funeral services will be held Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA with Rev. Sidney Clay officiating. Family will receive friends before the service from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, GA with Rev. Sidney Clay officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30263.
Mrs. Phillips was born February 3, 1944 in Montezuma, GA to the late Wheeler Smith and O'Nita Raburn Jones. She was a secretary with Xerox in Atlanta, before her retirement. She was a member of Ideal Baptist Church in Ideal, GA. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister and grandmother to her family, especially to her son, Brandon and a proud preacher's wife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Herschel Phillips; two daughters and one son-in-law, Paige Elrod, and Stephanie and Howard Henderson.
Survivors include her mother, O'Nita Raburn Jones of Oglethorpe, GA; four sons, Kirk Taylor Elrod and Brandon K. Smith both of Garden Valley, GA; Kevin Elrod and his wife, Nerissa of Newnan, GA; Lewis Phillips and his wife Robin of Madison, Alabama; two daughters, Missy Key and her husband, Irving of Newnan, GA; Sandy Bailey and her husband, Donald of Dothan, AL; two brothers, Donald Smith of Vienna, GA and Kenny Smith and his wife Gail of Oglethorpe, GA; fifteen grandchildren and a host great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends also survive.
