OGLETHORPE, GA – Ronald T. Tarrer, age 82, of Oglethorpe, GA passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with his beloved family by his side holding his hand and loving him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at 2pm in the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Ga. A visitation will be held at 1pm prior to the service at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mr. Ronald was known for being hardworking and willing to help anyone who needed it. He had the sweetest soul just like his Mama and was hardworking like his Daddy. He was voted “friendliest in high school” and made his senior quote, “A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.” He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his beloved family, making homemade ice cream, and playing the piano. He was a lifelong member of Ideal Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army Reserve Airborne and attended flight school.
Mr. Ronald is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Tarrer; beloved daughter, Von Bartlett (Ben); brother, Tony Tarrer (Linda); four grandchildren, Cassie Griggers of Miami, Florida, Benjaman Bartlett of Perry, Georgia, Mallory Massey of St. Augustine, Florida, and Rachel Bartlett of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Four great-grandchildren, Colton Bustos, Grayson Bartlett, Miliana Baldino and Cali Grace Bartlett; brother in law, Johnny Bodiford (Dorothy); sister in law, Connie Cannon, that was loved like a daughter; many beloved nieces and nephews; as well as Brittany Barnes and Brandy Gibson who were considered adopted daughters.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Marcy Tarrer Massey; his parents, J.W. and Ada Tarrer; brother, David Tarrer; his beloved fur-baby/sidekick GiGi; and his best friend/fishing buddy Harry Wood.
Honorary Pallbearers include his best friend Mike Todd, Bobby Hudson, Ken Kellar, Rick Poole, John Shipp, Buck Levins, and Ted Robinson.
