LOGANVILLE, GA - Robert Chapman Studdard, age 54 of Loganville, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Studdard, Robby, was born February 19, 1962 in Griffin, Georgia to Bobby Lee Studdard and Laquita Chapman Thomas. He was a glass installer and attended Free Chapel. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Studdard, and his grandson, Charles Hill.
Robby is survived by his wife, Gina Studdard of Loganville; mother, Laquita Thomas of Cumming; son, Andrew Hill of West Palm Beach, FL; son, Matthew Hill of Flowery Branch; daughter, Savannah Holcomb of Auburn, GA; and ten grandchildren; sister, Pamela Studdard Fredebeil of Jasper.
Robby was a talented and passionate musician.His teacher and close friend, Russell Jones, said he had a true gift and learned very quickly, playing lead guitar in a short time like he had been playing for years.He played lead guitar in bands, performing at numerous venues in the Atlanta area during his twenties and thirties, also playing in the Free Chapel praise band.He loved writing songs and playing music.One of his greatest achievements was last year when he was able to buy a Gibson Hummingbird guitar.
Robby indulged his love for American history, specifically the War Between the States, by being a Volunteer In the Park, VIP, at Andersonville National Park then joining the 21st GA & co-founding the 12th GA, Company C of The Georgia Division Reenactors Association. He reenacted battles during the 125th anniversary of the war and continued to visit battlefields and museums, read books and magazines, and play music and songs of the period for the rest of his life.
We will be celebrating his life on Saturday,March 26, 2016, with visitation at 12:00 pm and a memorial service at 1:00 pm at Watson Matthews Funeral Home Chapelin Montezuma, GA.
