OGLETHORPE, GA - Patricia Louise Hobbs Hortman, 73, of Oglethorpe, GA passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at her home.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m., Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Whitewater Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Chris Hall, Rev. Governor Gibson, and Rev. Doug Merck officiating. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Mrs. Hortman was born February 11, 1941 in Reynolds, GA to the late Grover Cleveland Hobbs, Jr. and Lillian Inez Grant Hobbs. She was a friendly face in Macon County, working as secretary at The Bank of Macon County, Macon County Commissioners, Atlanta Gas Light in Montezuma, and Watson-Mathews Funeral Home. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hortman was preceded in death by two brothers: Grover Hobbs and Terry Hobbs.
Mrs. Hortman is survived by her husband, D. Brown Hortman of Oglethorpe, GA; three children: Michael (Johnna) Hortman of Ellaville, GA, Michele Hortman Shuptrine of Cleveland, GA, and Marsha (Gary) Norris of Reynolds, GA; three brothers: Larry (Ann) Hobbs of Dacula, GA, Bobby (Alice) Hobbs of Andersonville, GA, and Louie (Frances) Hobbs of Reynolds, GA; and six sisters: Shirley Jones of Greenville, SC, Linda (Gene) Simmons of Garden Valley, GA, Marjorie (Clyde) English of Montrose, GA, Susan (Jim) Tungate of Oglethorpe, GA, Joyce (Ray) Smith of Reynolds, GA, and Cheryl (Larry) Dorsey of Oglethorpe, GA. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Michael (Chelsea) Hortman, Jr., Patrick Hortman, Grant Shuptrine, and Kelley Shuptrine; a sister-in-law, Jean Gilbert of Midland, GA; and an aunt, Virginia Taylor of Oglethorpe, GA; and a host of other family members.
