Nancy Mccarty

Mrs. Nancy Archdeacon McCarty, age 80, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Mt. Zion St. - Luke Lutheran Church with graveside following after at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.

A visitation will be held prior to the service in the Lingle Room of the Lutheran Church at 10:00 am.

Mrs. McCarty was born in Montezuma, Georgia on September 4, 1943 to the late John Joseph Smith Archdeacon, Sara Coogle Archdeacon Gilmore and Chesley Bartow Gilmore. She was a lifelong and faithful member of Mt. Zion St. - Luke Lutheran Church in Oglethorpe. Mrs. McCarty was employed by the Macon County Department of Family and Children Services for over 30 years as a case worker and supervisor. Her dedication to the church and commitment to her community never wavered, as well as her steadfast love for her family. She was a devoted wife, the most loving mother, and a doting grandmother “Nene” to her precious four grandchildren. Her kind heart, sweet spirit, and selfless nature will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.

Mrs. McCarty’s survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Mack Stanley McCarty of Oglethorpe, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Laura McCarty and Michael Goldsman of New York, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Ben Leathers of Athens, GA; and daughter and son-in-law, Lezlee and Dan Roach of Americus, GA; her four grandchildren: Coleman Leathers, Bennett Leathers, Sara Mac Roach, and William Goldsman; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Flowers will be accepted and memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion St.-Luke Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 187, Oglethorpe, GA, 31068.
