Myra Jo Barfield Tharpe

HENDERSON, GA - Myra Jo Barfield Tharpe, age 59 of Henderson, GA passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, GA.

Funeral services were held 3 pm, Sunday, Dec. 26 at Henderson Baptist Church with Rev. David Knight officiating.

The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the services.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Myra was born on May 19, 1951 in Montezuma, GA to the late Grover Barfield, Sr. and Gladys Raper Barfield. She was a bookkeeper with C. Snyder Chapman CPA in Perry, GA. She was very active in American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Houston County and helped sponsor the Katrina Relief and Duke Brain Tumor Society.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Tharpe of Henderson, GA; daughter, Brandi Jo Tharpe of Raleigh, NC; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Wayne Etheridge of Oglethorpe, GA, Carolyn and Phonsie Poole of Marshallville, GA, Vicki Edgar of Oglethorpe, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Mickey and Linda Barfield of Montezuma, GA; special friend, Deborah Law, many nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial contributions may be made to Henderson Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or American Cancer Society of Houston County, GA.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of funeral arrangements.
