MONTEZUMA, GA -- Myra Virginia Dewire Fear, age 102, of Montezuma, GA died peacefully at The Oaks Nursing Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
The Funeral service will be held on May 13, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Montezuma United Methodist Church.Rev. Billy Kimbrel and Rev. Tony Caldwell will officiate. Visitation will be immediately after the service. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Hamilton, IN. Mrs. Fear will be buried next to her husband in Knox Chapel Cemetery, Swayzee, IN after a private service.
Mrs. Fear was born March 3, 1914 in Stueben County, IN to Montie Edgar and Ethel Winifred Ingram Dewire.She attended DePauw University, where she majored in Music and Art Education.In college, she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.She graduated in 1935 and married Arthur J Fear in September of that year.They had two children, Robert and Ann.
Mrs. Fear and her husband lived in Washington, Michigan, California, Georgia, and South Carolina as he continued his education and advanced in his career as an educator.They ultimately settled in Clemson, SC, where Arthur was a Professor at Clemson University. Whenever possible they participated in community theater and traveled.Myra indulged her interests in art, music, and literature.They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary shortly before Arthur's death in 1990.Mrs. Fear moved to Montezuma in 1993 to be near her son Robert and his wife Ann.
Mrs. Fear was a member of Christ Church Unity and the Phelathia Sunday School Class of the Montezuma United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Fear was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, her husband Arthur, and her daughter Ann Fear Neely.She is survived by her son Robert Fear and wife Ann of Montezuma, GA, former son-in-law James M. Neely and wife Anne of Big Canoe, GA, brother Willard C. Dewire and wife Sue of Hamilton, IN, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given to Montezuma United Methodist Church, 201 North Dooly Street, Montezuma, GA 31063, or a charity of your choice.
