Mrs. Mildred "Millie" Inez Hackle Lofley, age 93 of Montezuma, formerly of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at Summerhill Nursing Home in Perry, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM, Friday, September 24, 2021 at Andersonville National Cemetery. Rev. Tim Ferguson will officiate the service.
The family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home on the day of the service at 1:00 PM. We will leave the funeral home at 1:30 PM to go in procession to Andersonville National Cemetery.
Mrs. Lofley was born in the town of Pahokee in Palm Beach County, Florida on January 31, 1928, to the late Mr. Sid Homer Hackle and Willie Bell Price Hackle.Following the September 1928 Hurricane that ravaged the area, Millie's family moved east to the coast where she called Boynton Beach her home for most of her life.She grew up there, married and raised her family in Boynton.She loved the town and especially loved having her many relatives and friends nearby.
In 1979 Millie and Bill decided they wanted to live somewhere with cooler weather and they moved to Blairsville, Georgia where they built a home. While in Blairsville Millie was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church and was known as the cake lady.Anytime there was an occasion for a cake she would make one.Millie remained in Blairsville until 2019 when her health forced her to move closer to family.She loved the 40+ years she lived in Blairsville.She had a church family and an amazing group of friends that she loved. Millie was a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor.She was quick to laugh or make a joke. She loved telling stories about the old times and how she grew up.She enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening and tending to the many birds around her house.She was also a huge baseball fan and loved the Atlanta Braves.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Lauri Hale (Richard) of Shalimar, Florida, daughter-in-law, Constance "Connie" Lofley of Montezuma, Georgia; six grandchildren:Meredith Plummer, Michelle Lofley, Michael (Fallon) Lofley, Allison Hale, Kimberly Hale, and Richie Hale.Also surviving are six great-grandchildren:Savanna Plummer, Christopher Plummer, Jack Plummer, Teagan Lofley, Jackie Lofley, and Sterling Jones as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Millie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Lofley (2004) and son James "Jimmy" Lofley (2018).
