Mildred Ferrell

FORT VALLEY, GA - Mildred Avo (Chaffin) Ferrell, age 91, passed away from this life peacefully of natural causes October 13, 2017.

She was born August 5, 1926 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Oakley K. and Etta Avo Chaffin.

Mildred married Trellis Ferrell on March 30, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan.She lived in Michigan, Tennessee, and Georgia. She loved to sew, cook, take care of people, travel with her family and was a lifelong faithful member of the Church of Christ.Mildred acquired the titles of :daughter, sister, niece, aunt, wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Sherrie Ferrell, one granddaughter, Katie Ferrell Edwards and one grandson-in-law, Tyler Edwards. Brothers and sisters-in-law; Arlon and Bobbie Chaffin, of Cookeville, TN, Lewis and Carolyn Chaffin of Cookeville, TN, brother-in-law, Tommy Thompson of Johnson City, TN.

The titles of "second mom" best cousin ever" and "favorite aunt" were bestowed on her by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews through genuine love and care.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Trellis Ferrell (Nov. 30, 2012) Sisters: Elsie Durham and Elizabeth (Chaffin) Thompson; Brothers: Merda Cecil Chaffin, Theo Carlen Chaffin, Kenneth Chaffin, Marioin Chaffin, Thurrel Chaffin; Sisters-in-law: Jonell Chaffin, Wanda Faye Cook Chaffin, Dottie Chaffin, Lois Smith Chaffin, Milbra Chaffin, Jessie Chaffin, Ida Estelle Chaffin, Wanda Fox Chaffin; Brother in law: Ivan Durham

Memorial donations may be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief, P.O. Box 1180, Nashville, TN 37222-1180.

Funeral Services for Mildred will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017, beginning at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with her Nephew, Ken Chaffin officiating.Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville, TN.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA was in charge of local arrangements.
