MONTEZUMA, GA – Michael “Mike” Lee Culpepper, age 82, of Montezuma, Georgia transitioned to heaven on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Graveside services will be held at Bartha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Pastor Mark Poole will officiate the service.
Mike was born on September 5, 1941 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Avotra C. Culpepper and Woodrow Burch Culpepper.
Mike was an insurance salesman for over 41 years with Independent Life Insurance Company, Gulf Life and American General. Mike retired in 2006. Mike served in the Georgia National Guard from August of 1962 to August of 1968.
Mike loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was a Christian husband, father, grandfather and a great role model for all. Mike had a great sense of humor, often leaving everyone smiling and laughing. Mike loved to read books, newpapers and watching prime time T.V. Mike enjoyed family events, trips, and a yearly Thanksgiving week stay at a condo in Panama City, Florida. Mike supported his grandkids by attending Junior ROTC events, dance recitals, and volleyball games. Mike enjoyed playing baseball and basketball with his kids growing up and taking his kids to and from school, stopping lots of days after school for snacks. Mike loved to walk the streets of Montezuma 3 to 5 miles most days, with his walking buddy, his daughter, Evie. Mike loved comtemporary christian music, taking family members to christian music concerts all over Georgia for many years. Mike was an avid sports lover, especially his Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons, passing that love to his kids and grandkids. Mike loved to discuss ballgames, players, sports info with anyone who was interested. Mike was a member of First Baptist Church Montezuma where he sang in the choir for about 20 years.
Mike was a faithful, loyal, and loving husband for over 50 years to his loving wife, Janice Bollinger Culpepper of Montezuma, Georgia. Mike is also survived by his son, Chris Culpepper and wife Angel of Warner Robins, Georgia; his daughter, Evie Singleton and husband Eddie of Leesburg, Georgia; and four grandchildren, First Lieutenant Kobe Culpepper of Fort Carson, Colorado and his girlfriend, Lexi Lomax, Sidney Singleton and Savannah Singleton both of Leesburg, Georgia who called him “Dudah”. Mike is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Culpepper.
