Melvin Griffin

Melvin Griffin, age 75, of Montezuma, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 3pm at the Cedar Valley Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Pastor Damon Fountain will be officiating the service. There will be a viewing from 9am to 2 pm on Tuesday before the service. Melvin was born on July, 26, 1949 to the late Hude and Doris Griffin. He went on to serve over 20 years in the U.S. Army. He was a faithful member of Cedar Valley Church. Mr. Griffin was always known to be a handyman and would help out anyone in need. Melvin had a special interest in helping fellow veterans. He is survived by his niece, Chasity Bridges (Bobby); sister-in-law, Jennifer Allen; and great-nephew, Peyton Bridges; two brothers, CL Griffin and Newton Griffin. He is also survived by his lifelong friends, Bobby McKinney, David Dixon, and Tommy Jones. Melvin is preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Orta Griffin; his daughter, Lessie Griffin; two brothers, Tommy Griffin and Howard Griffin; and one sister, Ruth Mae Holloway.
