MONTEZUMA, GA - Mary Eve Spradley Watson, 96, of Montezuma, GA passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, January 13, 2014. Visitation is scheduled for 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA with a graveside service following at 11 a.m. at Felton Cemetery in Montezuma, GA.

Mrs. Watson was born December 21, 1917 in Montezuma, GA to the late Little James Spradley and Ethel Davis Spradley. Mrs. Watson enjoyed embroidery, cooking, and fishing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn D. "Preacher" Watson; her son, Wilburn Eugene "Shorty" Watson; two sisters, Mildred Edwards and Hilda Massey; her brother, Jimmy Spradley; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Watson is survived by her six children, Kay (Larry) Belflowers of Montezuma, GA, Joette (Gilbert) Jones of Montezuma, GA, Betty (George) Humes of Mexia, TX, Jimmy (Mary Kay) Watson of Oglethorpe, GA, Peggy June Barfield of Montezuma, GA and Cecile Williams of Oglethorpe, GA; and two sisters, Carolyn (Buddy) Epps of Montezuma, GA and Jeanette Beard of Montezuma, GA. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
