Mary Emma Peavy

Mary Emma Peavy, age 84, of LaGrange, GA, formerly of Byromville, GA passed away Tuesday morning, January 24, 2012 at Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, GA.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26, from 6 to 8 PM at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma. At other times, the family may be contacted at Martha Peavy's residence at 577 Webb Street in Byromville, GA.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Truitt officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Swearingen Cemetery near Byromville, GA.

Serving as pallbeares are Robert Peavy, John Wagner, Michael Alsabrook, Tim Carley, Kevin Tavares and Wayne Peavy. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Johnathan Alsabrook Tally and Andrew Tavares.

Mrs. Peavy was born on August 1, 1927 in Byromville, GA to the late Harvey and Fannie Baggett Huckaby.She was a member of Byromville Baptist Church and was a supervisor at J.C. Penny's for 15 years, before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Harvey Peavy and sister, Thelma Avera.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, John Milton Peavy of LaGrange, GA; daughter, Elizabeth Peavy Wagner of LaGrange, GA; son, Jim Peavy and wife Cindy of Smyrna, GA; 5 grandchildren, Page Tavares and husband Kevin of Buford, GA, Twins, Joshua and Kristen Peavy of Smyrna, GA, Jamie McRae and wife Crystal of LaGrange, GA, Lauren Alsabrook and husband Michael of LaGrange, GA and 13 great grandchildren also survive.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma is in charge of funeral arrangements.
