Edna Raper King

On Monday, August 28, 2023, Edna Raper King, age 91, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 at Cedar Valley Baptist Church at 11 AM, with visitation starting at 10:30 AM. A private burial will be held prior to the memorial service in the church cemetery. Pastor Damon Fountain will be officiating the service.

Edna was born on June 29, 1932 to Harvey Raper and Verlie Middlebrooks Raper and lived most of her life in Montezuma, Georgia.

She was an employee at Kellwood for over 25 years, but her most devoted role was as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and especially as caregiver to her son, for the 65 years of his life.

Edna was a member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church and faithfully served for over 30 years in the church nursey. Babies and children were a favorite of hers.

Crochet was a hobby she enjoyed, and she especially liked listening to Gaither gospel music.

Edna lived her life well and dedicated herself to her family, her home and her church.

Edna is survived by her three children, Faye Kirkland, Tricia Welch (Kenny Welch), Kay McCarty (Wright McCarty). She is preceded in death by her son, Bubba King. 7 granchildren, Kelli Mayfield (P.D. Mayfield), Kevin McCarty (Elena McCarty), Justin Kirkland (Monica Kirland), Seth Welch (Lindsey Welch), Bryan McCarty, Kip Welch and Meghan Browning (Russ Browning). 9 great-grandchildren, Claire Mayfield, Olivia Mayfield, Ella McCarty, Theo Kirkland, Cam Kirkland, Landry Welch, Davis Welch, Boone Browning and Belle Browning.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be sent to Cedar Valley Baptist Church, P.O. Box 716, Montezuma, Georgia 31063.
