Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA. Burial will immediately follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.
Martha was born June 23, 1936 in Schley County, GA to the late Montez Justice Smith and Jake Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion-St. Luke Lutheran Church in Oglethorpe, GA.
Survivors include her two daughters, Gina Underwood and her husband Bobby of Jefferson, GA, Glenda Merkel and her husband Hans of Kissimmee, FL; one son, Robert J. Davis and his wife Marlene of Old Fort, TN; two sisters, Helen S. Farris of Macon, GA and Arlene Rohl and her husband Arlen of Manning, SC; six grandchildren, Tyler Merkel, the twins, Pat and Glenn Esposito, Holly Mutvic and her husband Alex, Dustin Underwood and Laura Fulwood and her husband Adam; seven great-grandchildren, Lily and Max Mutvic, Nicholas and Summer Underwood, Austin, Abigail and Jeremiah Fulwood. Many nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Davis; three sisters, Betty Webb, Wynelle Pierce, Maxine Hinson and one brother, William R. "Bub" Smith.
