Posted on behalf of Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran – Marjorie Hobbs English, age 78, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at her residence. Private funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. English, born in Macon County, was the daughter of the late G.C., Jr. and Inez Grant Hobbs. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Hortman, and her brothers, Grover Hobbs, III and Terry Hobbs. She had worked at BI-LO and Piggly Wiggly and also served many years in the Bleckley County School System where she worked as a substitute teacher.
Survivors are her husband of 58 years, Clyde English, Sr., her children, Glenda English, Andy (Tonya) English, Jr., and Elaine (Hugh) Avery; grandchildren, Meghan Brigmond, Duncan English, and Erin English: siblings, Shirley Jones, Larry (Ann) Hobbs, Bobby Hobbs, Linda (Gene) Simmons, Louie (Frances) Hobbs, Susan (Jim) Tungate, Joyce (Ray) Smith and Cheryl (Larry) Dorsey; brothers-in-law, Bill (Rosaria) English and Paul (Ann) English; sister-in-law, Dianne (Gerald) Smith; special friend-caregiver Opal Wilmore and numerous nieces and nephews
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice Dublin, 1022 Hillcrest Pkwy, Dublin, GA 31021, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry St, Macon, GA 31201.
