LILLY, GA - Mr. Marion Amos "Bubba" Thompson, Jr., age 71, of Lilly, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Crisp Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Cemetery in Byromville, Georgia.Reverend Josh Bizzell will be officiating.

Mr. Thompson was born in Montezuma, Georgiaon February 11, 1945 to the late Marion Amos Thompson, Sr. and Dorothy Peterman.After graduation, Bubba worked with his father on the family farm for over thirty years.After retiring from farming, he worked as a contract log truck driver.Bubba was active with rescue and search dogs for many years. He served as Chairman of the Board for Fullington Academy in Pinehurst, Georgia and also served his community as a volunteer fireman.Bubba was a lifelong member of Byromville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son,Marion Amos (Matt) Thompson III (Meredith) of Byromville, Georgia;two grandchildren Myles and Madelyn Thompson of Byromville, his sister, Beth Reynolds (Paul) of Macon, Georgia,a special friend Ann Parker and her great grandson, Ethan Booth of Lilly, Georgia and a host of other relatives.
