Marilyn Ruth Maffett

September 13, 1928 — December 6, 2008

Marilyn Ruth Maffett, age 80, of Montezuma, GA passed away Saturday morning, December 6, 2008 at the Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, December 8, at Felton Cemetery in Montezuma with Rev. Nancylee Cater officiating.

The family has requested no visitation. The family will be at the residence of Jimmy and Sara Anne Maffett.

She was born on September 13, 1928 to the late James D. Maffett, Sr. and Ruth Haugabook Maffett. She was a 1950 graduate of the University of Georgia and member of the Tri delta Sorority. She taught school in England, North Africa and later on in Columbus, GA and Atlanta, GA. She was secretary for Senators Walter George and Richard Russell during their term. She was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her two brothers and one-sister-law, James "Jimmy" D. Maffett Jr. and his wife Sarah Anne Maffett of Montezuma, Jack H. Maffett, Sr. of Montezuma; 4 nieces and nephews, Jack H. Maffett, Jr. of Macon, Cindy M. Hicks of Fairhope, Alabama, Ann Rickert of Valdosta, Laura Lynn Bell of Madison, Alabama. Ten great nieces and nephews also survive.
