Marcia Lynne Robinson, age 72, of Dublin, GA moved from this life into the arms of her Savior on October 9, 2022, at Shamrock Nursing Home, Dublin, Georgia. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens in Oglethorpe, GA.
Marcia was born on January 13, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the adopted daughter of the late James (Jimbo) and Catherine (Cappy) Robinson of Ideal, Georgia. Marcia was preceded in death by her brother, Brock Nelson Robinson, and sister, Lisa Ferrell Robinson Childs, and a son, Charles Cannon, Jr. She is survived by a son, Jamey Cannon (Angela); two brothers, Todd Key (Janice), Scott Key, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marcia spent many of her growing-up years with her brother and sister in the Robinson home in Ideal. She and her siblings experienced a happy life filled with opportunities for adventure and excitement. She enjoyed all kinds of pets and was never without at least a pet dog. She attended Macon County High School, eventually completing a G.E.D. She then became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Marcia married and later divorced at a young age. Her L.P.N. led her to work in a variety of medical settings. She enjoyed working in nursing homes and especially found a period of work in the Atlanta area rewarding as part of a dialysis unit team.
In her later years, an earlier fall that had seriously damaged her ankles led to her disability. In that same period, she found her way back to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, being baptized at the Gatlin Creek Baptist Church near Thomasville. Georgia. In recent years Marcia reconnected with family in Dublin and Macon County and became a resident of the Shamrock Nursing Home. She came to think of many residents and staff there as her friends. In the final hours of her life, her family was deeply touched by the number of Shamrock residents and staff, who stepped (or rolled) into her room. She will be greatly missed by that community.
Her family gives thanks for the truth of Psalms 103: 8-14 in Marcia’s life: “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor does he repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.” Thanks be to God for his love for Marcia who has lead her through the shadow of death into the light of eternal life.
