OGLETHORPE, GA - Mrs. Lola Mae Coody, age 83, of Oglethorpe, Ga passed away Saturday night, July 27, 2013 at the Flint River Hospital in Montezuma, Ga surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma with Rev. Sidney Clay officiating the service. The family will receive friends before the service from 5 – 7 PM.
She was born on August 16, 1929 in Pulaski County, Ga to the late Elmo Sanders and Nell Sanders. She was retired from Forest Mills in Montezuma, Ga. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Ideal Baptist Church until her deteriating health.
She is survived by her loving children, Brenda Faye Moore and her husband Jimmy of Perry, Ga, Wayne Lee Coody and his wife Dianne of Ideal, GA, and Melissa Lee Layfield and her husband Eddie of Oglethorpe, Ga; 5 grandchildren, Jaime Moore, Michael Coody and his wife Lindsay, Kevin Layfield and his wife Halley, Brian Layfield and his wife Molly and Brandi Kennedy and her husband Danny; 5 great grandchildren, Cruz Layfield, Oscar Lloyd, Weston Layfield, Zach Martin, Camron Vanlerberghe, and Jayden Holloway; 3 sisters, Louise Ricks, Sue Bentley and Faye Bentley; 4 brothers, Newt Sanders, Bob Sanders, John Sanders and Pete Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nell Sanders and Elmo Sanders; husband, Obie Lee Coody; sisters, Melba Bowman and Lucille Hanes.
