ANDERSONVILLE, GA - Lillie Irene Yancey, 77, of Andersonville, GA passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 1, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Oglethorpe Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oglethorpe, GA. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., at Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, GA with Rev. Josh Woods officiating the service.
Mrs. Yancey was born November 26, 1936 in Unadilla, GA to the late William H. Bodrey and Hettie Wisham Bodrey. She was employed as a seamstress for many years and was a member of the Association of Macon County Churches. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Yancey, Jr. and her daughter, Melanie McLaughlin.
Mrs. Yancey is survived by three daughters, Tina Sewell of Bonaire, GA, Brenda Williams of Montezuma, GA, and Lisa McLaughlin of Bainbridge, GA and her significant other, Eugene Avery of Oglethorpe, GA. She also leaves behind one brother, William Bishop Bodrey of Unadilla, GA; and eight sisters, Eva Dennard of Unadilla, GA, Rosa Horn of Montezuma, GA, Minnie Peavy of Montezuma, GA, Hattie Cole of Cullman, GA, Helen Reynolds of Montezuma, GA, Dorothy Flynn of Perry, GA, Shirley Hammock of Perry, GA, and Betty Douglas of Perry, GA. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
