MONTEZUMA - Mrs. Lena Mae Coffee Elrod, age 98, of Montezuma, GA passed away peacefully, Friday evening, January 21, 2011 at the Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 AM, on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma with Rev. Michael Truitt officiating.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 10 AM to 10:45 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Elrod was born on December 16, 1912, in Banks County, GA, daughter of the late Frank and Elsie Coffee of Cordele, GA. Her working career was retail sales. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, John Elrod, Sr.; son-in-law, Charles Campbell and three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jean Myrick Campbell, of Columbus, GA, Virginia Carlton (Jim) of Zolfo Spring, FL and one son John Elrod (Diane) of Montezuma, GA; eight grandchildren, Chris Myrick (Debbie), Connie Ivey (Michael), Ginger Eures (Matt), Jan Cook (Jay), Daniel Carlton (Catherine), Lee Elrod (Hope), Shawn Elrod (Brandy), Joy Gunnoe (Dion), two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Coffee and Lucille Coffee, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She will always be remembered for her love of family and enthusiasm for life. Her hobbies were gardening, travel, and a fan of television sports, game shows and talk shows.
