Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 17, 2021 at Oglethorpe Baptist Church with Pastor Richard B. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on the day of the service at the church.
Mrs. Laverne was born on December 27, 1933 in Pelham, GA to the late Eva Mae White Sheppard and Lamar Shephard. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Cox, two daughters, Brenda Cox, Gloria Cox and a son, Richard Cox as well as two brothers and three sisters.
She was homemaker, taking care of the home and her children most of her life.
Survivors include her three children, Thomas Cox and his wife Rosa of Elliston, FL, Rita Terry of Thomaston, GA and Wayne Cox and his wife Sarah of Ideal, GA; brother, James Shephard and his wife Jean of Eatonton, GA; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
