THOMASTON, GA - Laura Linda Yoder Whitt, 59, of Thomaston, GA passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at home after a short battle with brain cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 14, 1953 in Virginia Beach, VA, the daughter of Sarah Yoder and the late Alva Yoder. She was the oldest of 12 children. She had 9 brothers, and 2 sisters. On September 1, 1977 she married Peter Whitt, who survives.
She was a loving wife, Godly mother, and a faithful member of the Thomaston Mennonite Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by 7 children, Patricia Whitt Kauffman and husband Melvern Kauffman of Montezuma, GA; James Whitt and wife Marlene of Reedsville, PA; Lois Whitt Troyer and husband John Troyer, Jr. of Georgetown, OH; Carolyn, Julia, Ellison and Leah of Thomaston, GA; 5 granddaughters and 3 grandsons.
Laura was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and her father Alva Yoder.
A visitation will be held tonight, (Oct. 27, 2012) from 6 to 8 PM at Harley Yoder's Residence, 4406 State Route 26 East in Montezuma, GA.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Montezuma Mennonite Church in Montezuma, GA. Burial will take place at the Montezuma Mennonite Cemetery.
