Larry Gene Longino, age 72 of Andersonville, GA passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Visitation with family will be from 6 PM to 8 PM, Friday, January 1, 2010 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2010 at New Life Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, GA.Rev. Tim Ferguson and Rev. Troy Fripp will officiate. Claudia Allen Gates will give the eulogy. Burial will follow in Cedar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Montezuma. Pallbearers will be Larry Bishop, Harmon Head, Ronnie Gordon, (Woody) Wayne Greene Jr., Randy Greer, Hoke Morrow and Ernie Longino. Honorary Pallbearers will be M.L. Jones and Ed Gates.
Mr. Longino was born on March 13, 1937 in Crisp County, GA to the late Earnest Carl Longino and Annie Florence Wood Longino. He was a retired welder from Blue Bird Body Company and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church, where he taught the Adult Men's Sunday School Class and served as the Chairman of Deacons. His favorite past times were fishing and hanging out at Oglethorpe Hardware, his second home. His favorite meal was steak and potatoes.
Survivors include his two daughters and their spouses, Denise and Steve Anderson of Montezuma, GA, Pam and James McLeroy of Andersonville, GA; two brothers, Ray Longino of Orange Park, FL and Ronnie Longino of Andersonville, GA; four grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson, Cynthia Anderson, Justin and Austin McLeroy also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Allen Longino and his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Longino.
