Lamar Hudson Massey

Lamar Hudson Massey, 86, of Rupert, Georgia, died Monday, December 2, 2024, at Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at County Line Baptist Church in Ellaville, Georgia with Rev. Mark Poole, Rev. Brandon Jones, and Rev. Johnny Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

He was a member of County Line Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve from 1956 to 1964. He was a former member of Ideal Lions Club and a retired Volunteer Fireman. He and his brother Donald Massey owned and operated the Ideal Service Station and the family farm.

Along with his parents, John Robert Massey and Pauline Cochran Massey, he was preceded in death by his son, James E. Massey and two brothers, John “Jack” Massey and Donald A. Massey.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda Allen Massey and two sons, Steve (Sheila) Massey and Paul A Massey of Rupert, Georgia along with five grandchildren, Broxton Massey, Kristen (Steven) Hafeychuck, Matthew (Bailee) Massey, Chris Massey, and Keagen Massey; and four great grandchildren.
