OGLETHORPE, GA - Mr. Wheeler Kenneth Smith, 66, of Oglethorpe, Georgia entered into rest on Sunday, February 17, 2019.
Kenny was born January 31, 1953 in Reynolds, Georgia to the late Fletcher Wheeler Smith and Oneita Smith Jones.He was employed as Director of Operations for the Macon County Board of Education. Some of his hobbies included working on cars and motorcycles, dove hunting and deep sea fishing. He was a member of White Water Baptist Church.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia. Burial will follow at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Gail Smith of Oglethorpe, Georgia; six children: Kelly Rebecca Albritton of Perry, Georgia, Josh Bowling (Regina) of Jacksonville, Florida, Ginger Marie Palmer of Andersonville, Georgia, Mitch Bowling (Tiffany) of Reynolds, Georgia, Brett Smith of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Scotty Smith of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two siblings: Donald Smith of Vienna, Georgia and Kevin Elrod, a special brother, of Moreland Georgia.Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Brandon Smith, Jessie Palmer, Jake Palmer, Axl Jones, Gracie Bowling, Jordyn Albritton, Jenna Albritton, Samantha Bowling and Bo Bowling. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in memory of Kenny Smith to the Macon County High School Football Team, 611 Vienna Road, Montezuma, Georgia 31063.
