Joseph Elton Suber

February 23, 1951 — October 26, 2021

Joseph Elton Suber of Venice Beach, California, left this life on October 26, 2021. Joseph was born the son of Elton and Emily Suber on Feb. 23, 1951. He was raised in Montezuma, Georgia where he made many lifelong friends. He excelled in school and developed his love of music during his time in Montezuma.
Joseph attended the University of Georgia before completing a degree in Cosmetology. He spent time in Athens, Atlanta, Americus, and Saint Simon Island, Georgia before moving to Los Angeles, CA in the late 1970s. He continued to pursue his music interest throughout his life. He completed a music degree at the Los Angeles College and went on to record and sell some of his original work.
Joseph loved his Los Angeles community. He was a member of the Angel City Chorale for several years and was honored to be part of the Chorale when they made their appearance at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. He was a member of a Renaissance singing group that performed at the Los Angeles Renaissance Festival for many years. He volunteered at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatrics Aids Foundation annual fundraiser.
Joseph enjoyed attending the Opera, Dodgers games, Concerts, Theatre, and live performances of the TV show Dancing with the Stars. In 2019, he attended the West Hollywood Red Dress Party and had so much fun. He was looking forward to that event in 2022.
Joseph loved to travel. He made several trips to Europe. Some for hiking with friends and some for fun with his mother and father. He made many visits to Hawaii for hiking, camping, and snorkeling. He and his friends hiked and camped with his dog Biscuit at many of the State Parks across the United States.
Joseph lived in Venice, CA for the last 32 years. On October 17, 1993, he opened Joseph's Entrada Hair Studio. A dream had become a reality. He was happy. Three months later on Jan. 17, 1994, the damage from a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles temporarily closed his hair studio. After several months, repairs were completed and he reopened his studio. He successfully operated his business for many years before closing and moving his clients to Brentwood West Salon, where he put his magic shears to work on the hair of many clients. Some famous. Some are not so famous.
Joseph loved his friends, and he had many. In the afternoon, he and his friends would meet on the beach to watch the sunset. He posted many photos on Facebook from that daily event. He loved walking on the beach, the boardwalk, and the streets of Venice with his beloved dog, Biscuit. Biscuit dictated a book to Joseph about her life. Joseph published her book. He loved Biscuit more than words can express. Biscuit continues to reside in California with a trusted friend.
Joseph said he had lived a good, long life. He had lived a full life, and he had done the things he wanted to do.A Memorial Service for Joseph was held in Venice, CA on November 3, 2021. The service was attended by his many friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family. There will be a private graveside prayer on Saturday, January 8, 2022, in Montezuma, Georgia at the Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery. He will be buried next to his mother and father.
