John Jones

John Frederick Jones Sr., age 81, of Montezuma, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025.

Visitation will he held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 2 PM at First Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow at Bertha-Dozier Cemetery.

John was born on October 3, 1943 to the late James Daniel Jones and Ann Alexander Jones. He loved to spend time with his family and working in his yard. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia.

John is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Betty Jones; three children, John Jones Jr. (Latralle) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Mark Stephen Jones (Christy) of Marietta, Georgia, and Julie Anne Dukes (Timothy) of Preston, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Lucy Jones, Archer Jones, Macon Jones, Ava Jones, Riley Jones, Callie Lawhorn, and Hoke Lawhorn; and one step-grandson, Bradley Dukes.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Daniel “Jimmy” Jones.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
