The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2013 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013 in the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park in Montezuma, GA.
Mr. Dowdy was born August 9, 1949 in Thomaston, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dewey Dowdy and Lucy Dell Mann Dowdy. He attended Stillwater Chapel with his family. In his spare time he enjoyed working with computers and locksmithing.
Mr. Dowdy is survived by his wife, Lisa Dowdy of Oglethorpe, GA; his children, John Franklin (Catherine) Dowdy, Jr. of Hazlehurst, GA, James Dennis Dowdy of Fort Valley, GA, Charles Wesley Leverette Dowdy of Oglethorpe, GA, and Rebecca Marie Dowdy of Oglethorpe, GA; three grandchildren, Zachrye Haghen Dowdy, Alex Benjamin Dowdy, and Rylee Lauren Rochelle Pierce. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members.
