Joe Lynn Turner

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Ideal Baptist Church. Pastor Johnny Brooks, Captain Larry Luke and Ted Collins will officiate.Burial will follow at Lockwood Cemetery in Ideal, Georgia.
Mr. Lynn was born September 22, 1950 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Joe L. Turner and Ellen Satterfield Turner. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Navy.He retired from the Georgia Department of Public Safety and Ideal Fire Department as Fire Chief.
He was a faithful member of Ideal Baptist Church and a member of the Travelers Rest Masonic Lodge #65.Mr. Lynn served as trustee on the board of the Georgia Masonic Children's Home.He was a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite Organization and Blue Knights of Columbus, Georgia.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Charlene Turner of Ideal, Georgia; his two children: Joe Lynn Turner, Jr. (Mary Margaret) of Marietta, Georgia and Carrie Jordan (Robbie) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two brothers: John G. Turner (Kay) of Ideal, Georgia and James Dennis Turner also of Ideal.Five grandchildren: Hunter Jordan, Carlee Jordan, Mason Turner, Peyton Turner, Lydia Turner and several nieces and nephews also survive.Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Turner.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Masonic Children's Home, P.O. Box 4183, Macon, GA 31208 or Ideal Baptist Church, P.O. Box 150, Ideal, Georgia 31041.
