Jimmy L. Spradley, Sr., age 76, of Montezuma, GA passed away Tuesday evening, February 9, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM, Thursday, Feb. 11, at Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, GA. Rev. Chris Hall and Rev. Jimmy Chapman officiated. Burial followed in Felton Cemetery in Montezuma.
Jimmy was born on April 7, 1933 in Montezuma, GA to the late Little James Spradley and Ethel Davis Spradley. He retired from Robbins Air Force Base after 28 years of service, where he worked with the gun repair and shipping division. He served in the Georgia National Guard, with a rank of E-6.He was also a Mason and member of Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Mark Simmons of Oglethorpe, GA; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Tracy Spradley of Wetherby West Yorkshire, England and Mitchell Spradley of Montezuma, GA; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Eve Watson, Carolyn and Buddy Epps and Jeanette Beard all of Montezuma, GA; seven grandchildren, David, Jacob, and Leah Spradley, Lily and Claudia Spradley, Stephen and Blake Simmons. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He is pre-deceased by two sisters, Hilda Massey and Mildred Edwards.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the localAmerican Cancer Society, c/o Joyce Liggin, 129 South Dooly Street, Montezuma, GA 31063.
