Jimmy Carl Gay

Jimmy "Jim" Carl Gay, age 85, of Montezuma, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 3 pm at Cedar Valley Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Pastor Damon Fountain and Pastor Freddy Hogg will be officiating the service.

Jimmy was born on October 8, 1939, to the late William Sirus Gay and Emmazella Huto Gay. He was a member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church and was also a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge #13. He loved Bluegrass music, fishing, hunting, and being with friends and family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Shirley Gay; daughter, Robin Medlin (Mike); son, Scott Gay (Brenda); granddaughters, Rachael Martinez and Ava Gay; great granddaughter, Sophia Martinez; three step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; and two step great great grandchildren.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, William and Emmazella Gay; and siblings, Lois Barrs and Larry Gay.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Jim to Shriners Children Hospital c/o Al Sihah Shriners at 222 Mecca Drive, Macon, Georgia 31206.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia.
