BYROMVILLE, GA - Mr. Jimmie Lee Collier, age 81, of Byromville, GA passed away Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Flint River Hospital in Montezuma.
Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, Aug. 4 at Byromville Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Phillips and Rev. Charles Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Montezuma.
Mr. Collier was born on August 7, 1929 in Byromville, GA to the late Wood Collier and Beulah Lamberth Collier. He was a retired farmer and member of Byromville Baptist Church, where he served as Treasurer and Deacon. He was a board member with Dooly County Farm Bureau and Fullington Academy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Inez Peavy Collier of Byromville, GA; three children, Linda (Robert) Melton of Americus, GA, Kay (John) Turner of Oglethorpe, GA, and Myra (Vernon) Kirksey of Byromville, GA; two sisters, Ruth Taylor of Cordele, GA and Lucy Golden of Vienna, GA; four grandchildren, Brandy (Shawn) Elrod, Amanda (J.J.) Pankey, Kyle (Leigh Ann Saliba) Turner and Brett Walls; one step grandson, Justin Kirksey; four great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews alsosurvive. He is preceded in death by a brother, James Brown Collier.
