OGLETHORPE, GA - Janis Lenora Melton Cromer, age 58, of Oglethorpe, GA went to be with her Lord on Friday morning, October 7, 2011 at her residence.

Visitation will be from 6 PM - 9 PM on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 2 PM, Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 at Stillwater Chapel, 3550 Highway 240 West in Ideal, GA. Rev. Greg Lowery and Rev. Roy Peterson will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Oglethorpe, GA.

Janis was born in Buena Vista, GA to the late Robert Lee Melton and Hazel Augusta Harbuck Melton. She was a homemaker and deeply loved her family at Stillwater Chapel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Cromer.

She leaves to cherish her memories her four children, Steve Carpenter and wife Ashley of Macon, GA, Leroy Hortman of Oglethorpe, GA, Connie Raper of Oglethorpe, GA and Pam Dixon and husband Shaneof Ellaville, GA; one sister, Edna Harbuck of Ellaville, GA; twelve grandchildren, Jordan Carpenter, Hannah Carpenter, Joshua Carpenter, Scott Hortman, Lacey Hortman, Mathew Hortman, Clinton Hortman, Tiffany Sutton, Bradley Hortman, Kelley Check, Nick Hortman and Haley Hortman and 7 great grandchildren and one on the way;one niece, Mandie Barnes and one nephew, Keith Harbuck also survive.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Phoebe Sumter Hospice, 1048 East Forsyth Street, Americus, GA 31709.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma is in charge of funeral arrangements.
